Mélanie Myers

Mélanie Myers pushes the boundaries of drawing to explore how we experience and interact with landscapes and built environments. Blending large-scale drawing, sculpture, and installation, Myers’ work highlights the tension in shared spaces, whether natural or built. Her pieces reimagine existing structures by placing them in new landscapes, exploring what remains of their meaning and material presence. By shifting perspectives, she invites viewers to reflect on their connection to the land and the monumental systems that shape it.

Mélanie Myers lives and works in Gatineau. She has an MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD, 2013) and a BA in art and design from Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO, 2008). Her practice touches on various areas of interest: landscape, reality, comfort and the middle class, which she approaches critically through drawing and installation. Her projects have been supported by the provincial and federal arts councils and shown in several galleries and centres across Canada, including Division Gallery (Toronto), Forest City Gallery (London), L'Écart (Rouyn-Noranda) and Gallery 17/18 (Ottawa). She has participated in residencies at Centre Bang (Chicoutimi) and Maison Scott-Fairview (Gatineau). Myers currently teaches drawing at UQO. In addition to her studio practice, she works on set design projects for the theatre.
