Maxime Boisvert-Huneault

Maxime Boisvert-Huneault (he/him) is a Gatineau (Quebec) based multidisciplinary artist. Having completed his MFA in 2022 from uOttawa, he has exhibited at AXENÉO7 (Gatineau), Galerie UQO (Gatineau), PDA Projects (Ottawa) and Wall Space Gallery (Ottawa). He was also commissioned for work on the campuses of the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO).

Maxime Boisvert-Huneault’s new work explores new possibilities for queer flesh in a world where bodies are subjected to a militant gaze that seeks to enforce modern social norms. In contrast, Boisvert-Huneault sees queer identities as continually redefining themselves beyond heteronormative standards. These sculptures reimagine the body, particularly their own, through frills, rhinestones, vibrant colours, and a sense of camp nostalgia. In doing so, he presents flesh as something inherently malleable, constantly shifting, and never fixed.
